with friends

Our last summer hurrah was a too-short trip to a tiny town in Southwestern Virginia where we met up with friends at their beautiful cabin on the creek. The kids played in the water, we hiked up to another little cabin where we made a bonfire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, we kayaked down the creek, we talked and laughed and had an amazing time.

Have you ever vacationed with friends? We've done it twice now - once, years ago before we had kids, and this time, with friends of ours who have a boy and a girl a year younger and older than our boy and girl - and as we relaxed in lawn chairs watching the kids play and have fun, and as I reminisced about our week at the beach with our friends nine years ago, I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why we hadn't vacationed with friends more often. The kids had a great time playing together, the adults had plenty to talk about, and we pretty much did whatever we wanted. It was great, and I'm already thinking about when we can plan something with friends again. Here are some photos from our weekend, if you'd like to see.

Such a relaxing time with great people in an absolutely beautiful place. What could be better?

Wishing you a good start to your week!
