one rainy friday in late august

On the very last Friday in August, we woke up to a 4-day weekend ahead and stormy skies rolling in.  With not much on our to-do list, we sat down to watch an episode (or two) of our favorite Netflix show - The Great British Baking Show.  My aunt introduced me to this show on our family vacation over the summer and I decided to introduce it to Sommer right before school started a couple of weeks ago. *bad move*  We have both become obsessed and on multiple occasions since starting to watch, I have found myself as one of the judges of an odd concoction that my 6 year old has come up with in the kitchen.  I must say though, she is getting better with each new creation.

So, on that last, rainy Friday in August, she came to me requesting a bunch of kitchen tools so that she could begin a new recipe.  In all honesty, I was not feeling a big mess or weird mixture of ingredients that day so instead of giving her the reigns, I suggested we make some pumpkin muffins; it was, after all, the day before September which in my mind is the unofficial start of all things fall.  A quick google search brought us to this delicious recipe.  When we realized that we had all the right ingredients, we knew it was meant to be.  We mixed, scooped, baked and drizzled our way to a perfect fall treat on a perfectly rainy, fall-ish day in August.
