apple picking

Our mostly annual trip to Carter Mountain this weekend was a great success!  We got there really early so we could enjoy the hay ride and get all of our apple picking supplies before the crowds.  The kids loved pulling the apples off the branches so we encouraged them to fill up their sacks...and then we brought home 40 (!!) pounds of apples.  They sure did a great job filling up those sacks!  But it was so much fun, and now we can make plenty of apple pie, apple crisp, applesauce, apples and peanut butter, caramel apples, etc.  We picked fuji's, granny smith's, and jonogolds - perfect for eating raw or cooked.

Hope you had a fun fall weekend!  I can't believe we're already more than halfway through October!  I'm already looking ahead to my Christmas lists and starting to do some shopping in preparation for fully enjoying December, but also trying to enjoy each beautiful fall day as it comes.  Looking forward to playing outside, carving pumpkins, and eating a million apples in the days ahead.
