I
love this time of the year. I always have and I hope I always will! Do you love it? And, I love pretty much everything about it; even the hustle and bustle of the shopping malls. I especially love when everyone starts to put their lights on their homes for me to look at when I drive around in the evenings. (Because clearly they are put out
just for me.) In my opinion, there is so much magic surrounding this time of year.
I can remember when I was little getting so excited on Christmas Eve - there was so much anticipation in our house. The girls and I would sleep on the floor together and listen so hard for Santa and his reindeer. I distinctly remember one year, Chels was sure she heard some hooves prancing around on the roof. We would put milk and cookies out and always a carrot for the reindeer. And, without fail, on Christmas morning, all of my dreams came true. I loved running down the stairs in the dark to find the Christmas tree shining so beautifully- I think everything seemed to be shimmering to my little eyes. We would always check the milk and cookies and the carrot and sure enough, every year, they had all been sampled. My mind is racing with all the memories I have from my childhood Christmas'.

This is my parents tree this year but very reminiscent of the trees from the past. |

As I have gotten older Christmas has continued to be magical for me. No, it's not about Santa and his reindeer anymore but I still feel that same excitement every year when I pull out my Christmas music and decorations. Now, the excitement of Christmas comes from the true meaning of Christmas - celebrating the little baby who was born in a stable so long ago. I hope that this will continue to be the cause of my celebration and excitement.
I have a feeling that as my little Sommer gets older; that childhood excitement will come back to my house as I watch her experience the
joy that is Christmas.
I hope that you experience this joy as you prepare to celebrate Christmas this year.
