This was our first time canning pickles and so we didn't have the proper tools. Although I don't feel that having all the proper tools is necessary, I do think it would have been helpful to have some. We made dills a few days later and had a pair of canning tongs and it made the process of boiling the jars so much easier.
These pickles need about 10 days or so to soak up all the yummy brine and taste really good. Matt and I broke into one of the jars over the weekend and they were delicious!
